Mike is a specialist in the law relating to children. A member of the Law Society Children Panel (now Solicitors Regulation Authority Children Panel Accreditation Scheme) since its inception in 1984. For several years he has been listed in the Chambers Directory of the Legal Profession as a "leader in the field."

Mike was an equity partner at Flint and Holmes Solicitors who merged with Stephensons in 1998. Mike is the Head of the Care department which is based at the Salford office.

Mike has a very busy practice representing parents, children, local authorities and other interested parties in care proceedings, adoption cases, residence and contact disputes and applications in wardship and the exercise of Inherent Jurisdiction of the High Court. He has been involved and reported in several high profile cases.

In addition to this he has for many years provided training to social workers, lawyers, doctors and other professionals working in the field of child law.

Mike is credited in the Legal 500 as a Child Law specialist.

Mike is a legal advisor to After Adoption's adoption panel and the Chairman of the Salford Diocesan Child Protection Commission.
