Position: AssociateHead of Welfare Benefits, Debt and Community Care department
Peter read History, English Literature and Politics at University before embarking on several community projects in his home area. He has worked for the TUC, Unemployed Centres, Youth Projects and many Voluntary organisations. During this time he was self-employed and worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau where he first gained his advice skills. He has been with Stephensons since 1997.
Peter specialises in Community Care Law and is one of a very few specialists in the Northwest area. He manages a wide caseload, having a regional contract with the Legal Services Commission to undertake this kind of work. In addition to his casework, Peter is actively involved in Community Legal Services Partnerships which are organisations committed to the delivery of legal services to those who are less able to access advice. He also supervises community care advice contracts given to other organisations by the LSC.
In his spare time Peter enjoys music of all kinds from Debussy to Pink Floyd. He also spends his time discovering art, travelling, cartography and – above all else – gardening!
